Team chat notifications
Set up team chat notifications for a seamless communication with your team members. Set detailed notifications for each group chat and DM to check important messages.
Things to know before setting up Team Chat notifications!

Different message types in Channel.io Team chat
◦General message
Messages sent without mentioning specific members or teams
◦@all
Messages tagging all team members of the group
◦@Manager
Messages that mention the manager(team member) directly
Group chat notifications
You can set default notifications for all group chats. It is also possible to set notifications for each group chat if it’s necessary.

Receive all activity
◦Receive push, badge, sound notifications for all messages from the groups you are in.
•
Receive important messages only
◦ Receive push notifications and badges for important messages only.
◦What is considered as an important message?
If you are tagged(@Manager) or mentioned with the mention all(@all) tag in the message . In this case, you will receive push, badge, and sound notifications, and chatrooms with general messages will be shown as bold with a small red dot.

Disable notifications(Nothing)
◦Only important messages(you are tagged(@manager) or mentioned with the mention all(@all) tag in the message) are displayed with a small red dot, but no pushes, badges, or sound notifications.

The notification settings can be customized for each group / direct message (DM).
Preview private message
•
You can turn on/off the preview option for private group messages or DMs in notification settings.

If some group chats customized the notification settings, you can view the list of group chats that have done so in the manager settings.

You can also change the notification settings directly from the group chat list.
◦ Follow the default settings
Receive notifications in the same manner as how the manager set up the team chat notification settings. (Follow the setting in [Manager settings → Notifications → Team chat notifications → Group])
◦ All activity
Receive push, badge, sound notifications for all messages from the groups you are in.
◦ Important only
Receive push notifications and badges for important messages(you are tagged(@manager) or mentioned with the mention all(@all) tag in the message) only.
◦ Nothing
Disable notifications for all messages.

Advanced settings and mention all(@all) tag notification settings
◦
If you are a marketer, the mention all(@all) message is important within the marketing team group chat, but the message from the sales team group chat may not be important to your work.
By utilizing the advanced settings, you can customize your mention all(@all) tag notifications only for groups that are important to you. Turn off the notification for group chats that are not essential so that you will not receive notifications even if the message containing mention all(@all)tag.
If the group chat [Announcement]’s notification settings for the mention all((@all)) tag is off, even if a message contains the (@all) tag, you will not receive any notifications.
Follow the default settings: Receive notifications in the same manner as how the manager set up the team chat notification settings. (Follow the setting in [Manager settings → Notifications → Sounds and others → Advanced settings])
On: Receive notifications for mention all(@all) tags in the group chat.
Off: Disable notifications for mention all(@all)tags in the group chat.
◦ Advanced settings can be set in the [Important only or nothing] status.

Customized notification settings for each group can also be changed directly in the group chat.
Inbox Notifications
You can set the Inbox notifications for chats. If you are using the existing operator mode, you can set the ‘Notify for Unassigned’ and ‘Email reminder’ functions here!
User Chat Notifications

All activity
◦ Receive notifications on all chats that you are involved in as an assignee or follower, or an assigned team.
•
Important only
◦ Receive push, badge, and sound notifications for chats you participated in as an assignee. A chat you are involved in as a follower will show a small dot, but will not have push, badge, and sound notifications.

Nothing
◦ Chats that you participated in as an assignee will show small dots, but disable all notifications for other chats.
Notify for Unassigned
•
Receive notifications when the new chat is opened and have not been assigned.
•
It works the same way as our previous ‘operator mode’ function.
Email reminder
•
If you have not installed the mobile app or have not responded to an unassigned chat for 10 minutes, we will send you a reminder to your email.
Channel Tip!
•
By installing the Channel.io mobile app, you can receive notifications of customer messages through real-time app pushes without receiving email reminders!
•
If the mobile app is installed, emails will not be sent to the manager even if the email reminder is ON.
Sounds and others
You can turn on/off the sound notifications separately from push notifications. You can also change the notification sound to distinguish it from other programs! Additionally you can also define your own version of [Important messages]!
Message alert tone

You can mute notifications or change them to different sounds. Change the sound you want, and use it to avoid confusion with other program notifications!
Channel.io's default notification sound has been changed to ’Drop’. If you want the old notification sound, please change to ‘Woody’.
Define important messages
•
Mention all(@all)
◦ Messages tagged as mention all(@all) in Team chat are classified as important and a notification will be sent.
•
Customer's message
◦ During user chats, a notification will be sent since the customer's message is classified as an important message.
Do Not Disturb mode
You can choose not to receive push notifications until your desired time by turning on the Do Not Disturb mode. The number of unread messages is displayed even when using Do Not Disturb mode, so you can check the messages at any time without missing them.

Do Not Disturb

You can turn on Do Not Disturb for as long as you want. The time can also be customized by clicking the ‘Customized’ button.

You can also set the Do Not Disturb mode when setting the manager status. If you're away from work or on vacation, set your manager status and Do Not Disturb mode together to let your team know about your status.

Team members in Do Not Disturb mode will have a moon icon next to their manager profile icon.

Green Moon: The team member is online on the channel.
•
Orange Moon: The team member is offline on the channel.
