Temporary restriction on sending SMS

Currently, international text messaging (SMS) is temporarily restricted in some countries, including the United States and Canada, due to product upgrades related to information security precautions after detecting a number of activities resembling a phishing campaign.

All international SMS sending has been temporarily disabled for approximately 40 hours, from March 23rd at 13:00 to 25th at 06:00 KST.

We detected mass numbers of fraudulent SMS text being sent out to people overseas using our platform, while impersonating some of our customers. Weโve blocked the texting feature and are in the process of enhancing the security of our system.

Abnormal login detection and guidance feature based on the access region was released.

The SMS follow-up notification feature used for chat conversations was unblocked after the security update.

All international texting features, including follow-up notifications, were temporarily restricted to complete an investigation and security upgrade by the SMS service provider. (Approximately 40 hours from 3/23 13:00 - 3/25 06:00 KST)

Enhancing IP and payment-side security is in progress, and we will deploy security policies to minimize inconvenience to our customers. From this point forward, all messages via SMS will be restored and fully available.

Although Channel.io was able to quickly detect the fraudulent activities and prevent damages, we were unable to clearly inform you upfront about the limitations of our features as part of this security enhancement. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
